Anna L. Russau, VMD A native of Massachusetts, Dr. Russau grew up riding hunters throughout New England. She was an active member of Norfolk Hunt Pony Club and gained extensive horse care experience showing and working on the hunter circuit. After gaining an undergraduate degree in Economics from the University of Massachusetts, Dr. Russau worked as a business manager for a national construction company. Returning to graduate school, Dr. Russau gained her Veterinariae Medicinae Doctoris (VMD) degree from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. She did her clinical training at the world famous New Bolton Center. After graduation, Dr. Russau remained in Pennsylvania at an ambulatory practice servicing high level hunter/jumpers and other sport horses. Dr. Russau’s clinical interests include lameness evaluation and therapy with emphasis on the use of chiropractic care. Her practice consists of general ambulatory medicine, ophthalmology, preventative medicine, performance dentistry, pre-purchase examinations, chiropractic care and client education. Warrenton Horse Works came into being in April of 2005 after a local practitioner retired from equine veterinary medicine and Dr. Russau purchased her practice. Since that time her practice has grown to offer her clients cutting edge technology such as digital ultrasound, digital radiology with instant results and computerized medical records. Excellent customer service and open communication are hallmarks of Warrenton Horse Works’ practice philosophy. Dr. Russau is currently the President of the Virginia Association of Equine Practitioners, past Treasurer of the VAEP, a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, and a member of the American Association of Equine Practitioners.
